I just received a notice from the Recording Magazin Germany. My remix of Julien-K’s ‘Dreamland‘ made it to the 11th place in their remix contest and I have won a nice book about studio accoustics. Unfortunately there is currently no way to listen to it. I’ll keep you posted if the remix becomes available.
I just got it finished and online for your listening pleasure. For this remix I added quite a lot new tracks of orchestral instrumentation. But just have a listen for yourself. I am looking forward for your comments.
Okay, first listen to Ke$has ‘Tik -Tok’
Then to Katy Perrys ‘California Gurls’

Well, that’s what I call song recycling… right? One interesting point is, that according to the wikipedia entries (always take these with a grain of salt) the writers are NOT the same:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Gurls – Katy Perry, Bonnie McKee, Calvin Broadus, Max Martin, Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tik_Tok_(song) – Kesha Sebert, Lukasz Gottwald, Benjamin Levin
But the producers are in both cases Dr. Luke and Benny Blanco
Pretty interesting, right?
He is so amazing. I have to share this…

Decoy Collective produced 4 small clips for the upcomming voting about the future of the ‘Reitschule’. In one of those clips a track written and produced by me was used. Watch it here
Well, this weekend the final round of the ESC European Song Contest was held and the german girl Lena Meyer-Landrut won with a fantastic score. In my opinion this is well deserved. It was pretty amazing to see this 19 year old girl winning without any big show effects or dance performance: just she and her song. But I don’t want to talk to much about that just because this is easy: the most outstanding and memorable act just won. Period!
On the other side the artist sent from switzerland failed in the first round with just 2 points! Since several years switzerland did not have any chance. And what do I read today? Blick am Abend proposes three girls from switzerland to be the next ‘Lena’. In my opinion this is plain wrong and exactly the same fault switzerland makes year after year: they try to clone something that was successful. In doing this switzerland makes sure it is alway one step behind. As this wouldn’t be worse enough they even don’t seem to get what exactly made the acts successful.
As Blick am Abend proposes to send Stefanie Heinzmann, JaĆ«l from the Band Lunik or Francine Jordi as the next ‘Lena’ they miss one point: they are all professionals! Not that this is a bad thing, but it misses the point of Lenas success. She won just because she is NOT perfect, and NOT too professional. Or let’s take a look at one of our most successful artist of the present: DJ Bobo. He failed when he tried to recreate the success of Lordi with a song about Vampires. He wanted to create the same dark and mystical mood. I think he did not realize why Lordi won. Lordi was able to mobilize a community of people who would not care about the ESC but they supported one of ‘theirs’ to win this contest. Lordi is probably not their favoured metal band, but it was A metal band at this contest and thus worth to vote for. But DJ Bobo can’t mobilize those metal fans!
So, what should switzerland do? I propose the next act from switzerland should be fresh, new, innovative… so switzerland should show courage, try new things, experiment, take chances, go crazy! This is the only chance to be at least one step ahead. This is how the good things in this country got big!
Wo
w, no updates since more than a month. Well, here is something for you. Tomorrow the ‘Finale’ of the W:O:A Metal Battle Switzerland 2010 will be held ni Monthey (Switzerland). Being a jury member I will have the honour to choose the winner who will be playing at the famous Wacken Open Air in Germany. The finalists are Arkhan, Hathors and November7. Each of these bands has already proven to bring a good show to the stage. So this will be a great evening with great bands at the club ‘Pont-Rouge’ in Monthey.
Just go to the music section and have a listen to the 2 new songs. One is called ‘Jazzy‘ and the other ‘The Last Waltz‘. The lead guitar on ‘Jazzy’ was performed by Stefan Schroff.
The voting for the ‘Worldless’ contest just finished and the winners were announced. My ‘Less Red Mix‘ made it to the 6th place. Congratulations to the winners of this contest: Andrew Maze, Greenox and Ryle which are well known Remixers over there at Fixtremix. Give them a listen.
I am greatful of every vote I got! Thanks very much for your support!
